Description
The 5/16″ (8mm) shaft is our second thinnest shaft. This makes it perfect for getting around multiple bends, whilst still having enough torque to power lightweight chains. We do not recommend using heavy duty chains on a 5/16″ (8mm) shaft, because this shaft is not suited for heavy duty tasks.
This shaft will provide you with enough torque to remove light scale, or remove smaller roots and softer blockages from 3″ – 4″ pipes.
The advantage to this shaft thickness is that it is suitable for pipe systems with more bends in it, as opposed to the thicker shafts. However, this advantage is that it will not perform well when removing heavy scale, or solid obstructions.
Since we use the metric system, the shaft is 65.6ft (20 meters) in length and 5/16″ (8mm) in diameter. Many customers write in to ask if we can make up a longer shaft like this, but we do not recommend exceeding this length as the housing of your machine limits the amount of shaft that it can take.
